Theatre of Marcellus

Erected by Augustus in the Icent. b. C. dedicated to his dead nephew Marcellus. One of the biggest theatres of Ancient Rome, with seats for 15,000 people. Built in travertine stone, in the Middle Ages it was transformed into a fortess by the Orsini family
