Ara Pacis Augustae
Erected by Augustus between 13 and 9 a.C. to celebrate the peace established throughout the Roman Empire. The altar itself stands within a marble enclosure, decorated inside and outside with beautiful low-relief carvings. Starting from 2006 Ara Pacis is contained inside the building designed by Meier: the structure contains a museum, a library and a convention hall. There’s a beautiful landscape from the terrace.
