Augustus' Forum

Completed in 2 b.C.. A high wall, forming the back of the new forum, was built to isolate it from the unsavoury Suburra district. Against the back wall stood the temple of Mars Ultor (the Avenger), erected after the battle at Philippi (42 b.C.)
