The Restaurant
Situated
in one of the most enchanting and characteristic corners of “old Rome”,
the
Rione Monti - the ancient Suburra, the restaurant "la Cicala
e la Formica", was originally a local inn and later the elected
place for a snack by the students of the nearby faculty of engineering,
located beside Saint
Peter in chains and the former villa Sforza, is
nowadays a small, cosy restaurant. The Customers are welcomed in a friendly
atmosphere and enjoy particularly of the attentions that the owners
reserve to lovers of real Italian cuisine. The menu list takes inspiration
from the traditional regional dishes touching all regions of Italy as
with the “Strangozzi with Porcini mushrooms” from the Umbria region
or “testaroli
al pesto” typical of Tuscany. All dishes are armonoiusly accompanied
by excellent wines such as Rosso di Montalcino, Chianti classico, Nero
d’Avola, Shiraz… just to name some of the etiquettes you will find in
the rich wine list.
Lunch
The restaurant is also open during lunch time, including Saturdays, with a daily selection of light lunch menùs starting from Eu.10,00 offering a choice among 2 first courses + a side dish or 1 first course + 1 second course or 1 second course + side dish.
Food Sessions
Passion for food and wine moves the owners to organize special events with the aim of offering the opportunity to share with others the pleasure to taste the typical products of Italy accompanied with wines from Veneto, Piedmont, Latium and Sicily etc. You will have the chance to receive information about high quality and characteristics of the products directly from their producers who will participate to the food sessions together with a professional sommelier.
Cultural Events
La Cicala e la Formica, is also the meeting place for promotion of cultural events such as vernissages or small art exhibitions. The warm and friendly atmosphere is ideal for those who wish to spend a pleasant and cheerful evening enjoying a delicious dinner. |
